Ready to Take a Dip?

Looking for backyard pool ideas or searching for the best outdoor pool designer? Luckily, Landscape Solutions & Design, Inc is here for all of your hardscaping needs. From start to finish, we design and build backyard pools and more. Moreover, our talented team makes the process easy on you while we do the heavy lifting. We begin with a free estimate.

First, our owner, Kostas, will meet with you to get to know your needs and examine your space. During this meeting, he gathers an understanding of what materials you prefer and what will work best for the design you desire. Most often, we design and install gunite pools. However, our team is able to work with the material that fits best for you. Moreover, if you want suggestions, Kostas has years of experience to offer and is always happy to share ideas that will enhance your pool and yard.

Then, we use state-of-the-art software to show you your finished pool and yard. This way, you’re able to better visualize what your outdoor oasis will look like. From there, you decide if you prefer changes or tweaks. Thus, we decrease unexpected last-minute adjustments that cost time and money. Better yet, this allows us to give you a more accurate estimate once we determine the final pool design.

Finally, our skilled team gets to work so that you can relax and swim in your pool as soon as possible!

Backyard Pool Planning

Planning your pool is almost as fun as floating around in it. Let the ideas swirl with the cool (or warm) currents you’ll be swimming in before you know it! As you plan your pool, consider a few things.

  • The size of your outdoor space
  • How many people plan to use the space
  • Where it fits best in your yard
  • How you plan to use the pool (for relaxation, exercise, entertaining or all of the above)
  • Poolside additions you prefer
  • Yard prep needed such as leveling or fencing

No worries, if you don’t have answers to some of these considerations, we do. Fortunately, Kostas helps review all of the above as you plan the perfect pool for you and your family. Furthermore, our team helps with many of the tasks you need performed such as leveling, building retaining walls and other hardscaping.

Pool Design Ideas

Likewise, determine the type of pool that complements your home best. As mentioned, we specialize in gunite pools. However, we build other designs and types as well.

If you haven’t heard of gunite, you’ve at least likely seen it. Oftentimes, free-form pools are created using gunite. Made of a concrete blend of sand, cement and water, this structurally sound material is adaptable and dependable. Paired with steel and coated with plaster, these fortified vessels easily withstand the pressure of thousands of gallons of water and shifting soil. In North Carolina, this particular feature is critical. Since gunite is flexible, it will contract or expand if needed. For instance, if soil freezes, gunite moves with the pressure rather than cracking.

Beyond the outstanding structural features, gunite pools are extraordinarily versatile. From smooth curves and angles to raised hot tubs and zero-entry options, your pool design ideas are seemingly endless. So let those ideas flow as you dream of your perfect backyard.

Why is a gunite pool better than a fiberglass pool?

If you’re wondering if a gunite pool is better than fiberglass, here are a few more things to consider in addition to structural integrity and flexibility.

  • Fiberglass pools do not have bottom drains which means you have to vacuum out debris on the bottom of the pool. Gunite often has 2 drains which means less work.
  • Gunite pool dimensions are exact. Fiberglass dimensions don’t always reflect actual measurements. For instance, a 6-foot depth doesn’t always mean 6 feet of water to the top of the shell in fiberglass.
  • Water temperature must be more consistent in a fiberglass pool (remember how we mentioned expansion issues?).
  • Warranty ownership is sometimes unclear with fiberglass.

Speaking of, pay close attention to warranties on fiberglass pools. It’s often limited and the homeowner may have unexpected liability. We are very straightforward about our warranties and make sure you always have a clear understanding of what to expect.

How to Enjoy Your Backyard Pool

Luckily, enjoying your backyard pool is also the easy part. So that you enjoy it best, consider some options many of our customers add:

  • Firepit
  • Patio
  • Outdoor kitchen
  • Built-in seating
  • Pergolas
  • Cabanas
  • Outdoor lighting

Similarly, think about other ways to enjoy your space. Adding outdoor speakers, televisions and game areas also make your backyard more inviting.

These are all options we can discuss. Often, you can add some of them after building the pool. Therefore, you can break up the expense a bit. Although, it’s often easier and more cost effective to get all the work done at once. Luckily, we offer financing with GreenSky to help you budget your dream backyard.
